These popular class provides a comfortable atmosphere with a participating adult, where the child can begin to express their individual movement and musical abilities.Students are introduced to a class structure, age appropriate stretches, coordination exercises, and rhythm through a safe and special experience with mommy. Added benefits for mom are increased flexibility, balance, and dance appreciation. Class also includes a movement story that encourages young children to explore, experiment, and create through creative dance.

Saturday 8:30-9:00am
This class is designed to work on large motor skills, learning skipping, classes, and ponies. Students will be working on rhythm timing and movement.
• 45 min class once a week
Saturday 9:00–9:45 am
In this class students will continue to work on large motor skills, practicing skipping, classes, and stretching. Focus is on leg and arm positions as well as coordination and improving listening skills.
• 45 class once a week
Saturday 10:00–10:45 am
This class introduces younger students to basic ballet vocabulary and technique in a structured yet fun setting. Focus is on stretching, extensions, simple leg and arm positions, steps and jumps across the studio to improve coordination and musicality. Rhythm and concentration will be emphasized.

Tuesday and Thursday 4:30-5:15pm
In this class barre and center work is introduced, age appropriate stretches, basic leg and arm positions are still a focus of this class. Working on improving balance, hopping, skipping, jumping, and galloping.
• 1 hour class once a week
Thursday 5:30–6:30pm
Students will learn ballet fundamentals and terminology while developing strength, confidence, balance, and flexibility. In this level of a traditional ballet training students work on concentration and endurance, and become proficient in fundamental dance movements and ballet technique.

2.5-hour class with Pointe or Pre-pointe Technique and Strength & Stretch on Wednesday, 4:30–7:00 pm.

Barre and center combinations move faster, and become more complex. Different rhythms are introduced. Center exercises are longer and require more memorization and stamina. More types of pirouettes, turns across the floor and jumps are learned. Pointe work is mastered with pirouettes, fouette turns as well as jumps on both or one leg.

This class is designed to build strength as well as extensions, endurance and balance. Special exercises will focus on muscle stretching and flexing, enhancing pirouettes, increasing movement speed, jumps with heights and timing escalating. The goal of this class is to make your children better dancers.

Contemporary ballet utilizes elements and techniques from other styles of ballet—classical, romantic, and neoclassical—and combines them with improvisation and freer movements to create a style that’s expressive and nontraditional. In this class, students will focus on learning proper dance techniques such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality, and developing complex rhythms and patterns.

Experience the Minnesota Ballet School Summer Intensive Program, offering extensive training in Russian classical ballet technique (Vaganova syllabus) and skill development. Our Intensive Camp places a strong emphasis on ballet technique while incorporating supplementary classes in character, pointe, variations, modern, men’s, partnering, and aerial ballet. Program will feature world-renowned guest teachers alongside our exceptional MBS faculty throughout the intensive.

Ballet technique, Pointe technique & Repertoire. Dancers will learn variations from classical ballets such as “Sleeping Beauty” “Giselle”, “Corsair” and many more.
2pm-4pm Students will be continuing classes such as Contemporary and Aerial Ballet, Character dance and Partnering.
Partnering classes will be available depending on the number of male attendees.

The program culminates with a showing in the Minnesota Ballet School studio on Friday, June 28 and is open to friends and family.

The Minnesota Ballet School welcomes dedicated dancers aiming to enhance their technique and artistry through the study of classical variations and the intricacies of the Vaganova Method. This special program caters to young dancers seeking immersion in the details of classical ballet variations. The curriculum features daily classes in classical technique, pointe technique, and intensive study of renowned solo choreographies from ballet history. It presents a valuable opportunity for those preparing for successful performances at ballet competitions. Please note that participation in this Intensive does not guarantee a place in the current MBS season competition team, although now is the ideal time for such an assessment.

These workshops are organized by age group and will focus on audition etiquette and learning the MBT Nutcracker choreography. Nutcracker prep is highly recommended but not required to audition for The Nutcracker 2024.

Barbie in the Nutcracker & 12 Dancing Princesses Ballet Camp invites young dancers into the magical worlds of Barbie in the Nutcracker and enchanting princesses. Experience the joy of learning dances from these beloved tales with Barbie as your guide.
In addition to dance instruction, participants will enjoy crafting Barbie-themed props, creating magical scenes, and exploring the artistry of ballet. This camp offers a perfect blend of imaginative play, creativity, and the delight of dancing in fantastical realms.

The camp concludes with a mini performance for parents on the last day, showcasing the young dancers' newfound skills and creativity.
