The Pre-Professional Day Program is a transitional program designed for ballet students who wish to bridge the gap between their formal training as students and a potential professional career in ballet. This program offers aspiring dancers the opportunity to gain valuable experience, improve their skills, perform additional roles in Minnesota Ballet Theatre productions, as well prepare for auditions and potential entry into other professional ballet companies.
If you are interested in transitioning from a student career to a professional ballet career, applying for our Pre-Proffessional programs can be a valuable next step. Program for dancers ages 12-18.
Selection by audition.
• Dancers must be 12-18 years old.
• Dancers must regularly attend all classes, school and company rehearsals, performances, and outreach program.
• New dancers must complete an audition form to join.
The in-person audition will take place at the MBS studio during regular class hours Monday through Saturday.
Your video should be no longer five minutes, and include barre work, center, and a variation or pointe work.
Introducing the Minnesota Ballet School Pre-Professional Day Program, an innovative platform tailored for aspiring dancers aged 12-18, poised to shape the next generation of dance professionals.
Embark on a transformative journey with our immersive curriculum, meticulously crafted to nurture talent and ignite passion. Led by industry-leading Vaganova Graduate instructors, our morning classes seamlessly blend ballet technique and repertoire exploration, laying the foundation for artistic excellence. Elevate your skills with optional evening sessions designed for Ballet Levels 4-6, featuring specialized training in stretch, strength, and contemporary dance. Additional rehearsal opportunities may also be available after the program for refining technique or preparing for specific performances.

Classes are scheduled on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, and Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Applicants may audition for the program either in person or via video submission. This program also accommodates homeschoolers, allowing flexibility to take morning classes. Select Pre-Professional Day Program students may be invited to dance as Trainees or company members with the professional ballet company, Minnesota Ballet Theatre.
