Intensive Ballet Camp

July 6-17 Monday through Friday 9am-4pm

Minnesota Ballet School Summer Intensive Programs offer comprehensive training in Russian classical ballet technique (Vaganova syllabus) and skills development.
For four hours each day, dancers will participate in ballet class focusing on the barre, center work and jumps, pointe work, and variations from classical ballets such as “Sleeping Beauty” “Giselle” “Corsair” and many more. Students will continuing classes such as Contemporary and Aerial Ballet, Character dance and partnering.

With unique knowledge of the Vaganova Method, guest teachers and faculty staff will emphasize basic stance and correct placement, turnout, aplomb, epaulment and port de bras as well as simple batterie and turns on two legs and on one leg.  An exciting opportunity to increase skill, knowledge, technique, and endurance.

 

Meet Lucia Erickson Intensive Camp Guest Teacher 

Hometown: Minnetonka, Minnesota
Lucia Erickson began her training at age three with the Academy of Russian Ballet in Eden Prairie Minnesota, under the direction of Svetlana Gavrilova and Kirill Bak. As a student Lucia performed in Academy productions as Clara and Sugar Plum in Nutcracker, Bird in Peter & the Wolf, and many other solo roles. She participated in summer courses at Minnesota Dance Theater, Marat Daukayev School of Ballet, the Rock School, the School of Pennsylvania Ballet, and the School of American Ballet. At 16, Lucia moved to Philadelphia and began training at the School of Pennsylvania Ballet. There, Erickson performed in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, Angel Corella’s Swan Lake, and Samantha Dunster’s La Fille Mal GardéeSnow White, Prince Charming, and Peter Pan. After two years in the school, Lucia joined PBII for the 2018-2019 season, and was promoted to corps de ballet for the 2019/2020 season.

Her roles include:

  • Don Quixote (Cupid, Flower Girl)
  • George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® (Dew Drop, Lead Marzipan)
  • La Bayadère (Shades Pas de Trois)
